TPS Surabaya Host to ISPS Code Exercise to Anticipate Cyber Threats and Security Disruptions

SURABAYA (MPN News) – PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), a subsidiary of Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), held an International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code) exercise earlier this month as a form of the company's commitment to ensuring preparedness for various potential security threats at port facilities. The exercise was also attended by the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster & Port Authority (KSOP) team and the Tanjung Perak Police.

This activity, involving various internal and external organizational elements, aimed to test the response, coordination, and effectiveness of port security procedures in emergency scenarios. In the simulation, the TPS was tested against three potential threats simultaneously: a truck driver protest, theft in the Container Yard (CY) area, and a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyberattack that disrupted operational service systems.

TPS Senior Vice President of K3, Environment and Security, I Nyoman Sudiartha, said that this exercise is a step to strengthen the resilience of port facilities against evolving threats, both physical and digital.

"This simulation not only fulfills international regulatory obligations but also ensures our readiness to protect port facilities, which are considered national vital assets. With structured exercises like this, we can evaluate the speed of response, personnel readiness, and the effectiveness of our implemented Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP)," he said.

In addition to testing threat responses, this activity also provided an opportunity to evaluate cross-unit communication, enhance risk identification skills, and refine contingency procedures. TPS hopes this exercise will strengthen a culture of risk awareness and increase operational resilience in the face of potential real-world disruptions in the future, including increasingly complex and dynamic cyber threats.

With this exercise , TPS affirms its commitment to consistently improve port security standards to maintain the smooth flow of national logistics and support Indonesia's economic growth.
