YOGYAKARTA (MPN News) - PT Jasa Armada Indonesia Tbk (IDX: IPCM), a member of the Pelindo Group specializing in ship pilotage and towing services, continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting community economic independence through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. Located in Girirejo Village, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, IPCM held an activity titled "Mentoring for Srikandi Girirejo Batik MSMEs," which focused on increasing the capacity and competitiveness of local batik MSMEs.
As a tangible form of support, IPCM provided batik-making tools, fabric, natural dyes, and other assistance to the Batik Srikandi Girirejo MSME artisan group. In addition to equipment assistance, the program also included a series of training and mentoring sessions covering the development of batik derivative products, financial record-keeping, branding and marketing enhancements, and an introduction to business digitalization. This initiative is expected to help artisans expand their market and adapt to digital-based creative economy trends.
The history of batik in Girirejo itself has long cultural roots. The tradition of batik in this region began with the tombs of kings and the courtiers and their families who were tasked with maintaining them. It was from these courtiers that batik skills developed in the Girirejo community, reaching their peak around the 1970s. Today, this spirit and cultural heritage are maintained through batik preservation and development efforts by the Batik Srikandi Girirejo MSME.
IPCM President Director Shanti Puruhita stated, "We designed this program not only to preserve the batik cultural heritage as a national cultural identity, but also to strengthen the capabilities of MSMEs in developing products, managing businesses, and utilizing digital technology. With continued support, we are confident that the Batik Srikandi Girirejo MSME can become an icon of the regional creative economy that is independent and competitive," said Shanti Puruhita.
The "Srikandi Girirejo Batik MSME Mentoring" program is part of the Social pillar within the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) framework implemented by IPCM. Through this activity, the company seeks to support the government's efforts in realizing Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) Number 8, namely supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, productive employment opportunities, and decent work for all, particularly in the aspects of improving community welfare and empowering women based on the preservation of local culture.
"We believe that the company's business sustainability will be strengthened when we grow together, creating significant economic and social value for the community and the surrounding environment," Shanti added. Through this activity, IPCM affirms its commitment not only to being a leading maritime service provider but also to being an active partner through the Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach in building a creative, independent, and competitive society in the digital era.
